Before you install

  • PicoRunner on an Apple Silicon Mac; tested with version 0.3.14 on macOS 26.6.2
  • Internet access for the initial source and dependency download
  • Keep the same browser profile and local address for saved browser data; export backups before changing them
  • Managed updates were reported unavailable in the tested PicoRunner UI
  • Local Stockfish needs no account or API key; optional online services have separate requirements
  • Keep PGN exports of games you want to retain; browser data depends on the profile and local address

  • launch: PicoRunner launched the existing root Vite dev script on an assigned port, without a manifest.
  • health: The chess UI and local Stockfish engine became ready on IPv6 loopback localhost.
  • smoke: Played e4 and received local Stockfish e5; exported PGN independently confirmed 1. e4 e5, and the two-ply game was saved.
  • restart: PicoRunner Stop removed the listener; Start restored the same origin and reopening the saved library game restored e4 and e5.
  • cleanup: Stopped the test app after restart verification and confirmed its listener disappeared. Managed folder, registration and saved synthetic game were retained.
